I make assemblage sculptures out of odd, beautiful, useful and not so useful bits of life and nature, all definitly meant for other purposes. All with another life behind them. Each thing did it's job - shovel, spring, cigar box, barrel hoops, doll head, lamp stand and then was retired from it's life work - free to become art!

I blend, fold, glue, bolt them together and the trip to completion is always a surprising one. The shovel who's life's propose was to dig is now a head! Nothing in life is fixed, all is potential. I love this recycling, reusing, remaking- transforming.

I began life amongst actors, my family owned a theatre in Philadelphia. I went from there to being a puppeteer, farmer, taxi driver, cook, pastry chef, and antiques dealer. That last, antiques, being the tipping point into my present life, supplying me with much of the bits and pieces for my work. Teaching me that value is in the eye of the beholder and nowhere else.

I am so very lucky that I share a studio in downtown Gloucester, Mass. at the end of Main St. with 4 other talented artists and wonderful people.
